Our Commitment
The Sunset Society takes food allergies and dietary requirements seriously. We want all our customers to enjoy their meals safely. This page explains how we handle allergen information across our services, including Click & Collect, Pre-Order, and Dine-In ordering.
The 14 Major Allergens
Under UK food law, we are required to provide information about the following 14 allergens if they are used as ingredients in our dishes:
- Celery — including celeriac
- Cereals containing gluten — including wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, and kamut
- Crustaceans — such as prawns, crabs, and lobster
- Eggs
- Fish
- Lupin
- Milk — including lactose
- Molluscs — such as mussels, oysters, and squid
- Mustard
- Peanuts
- Sesame
- Soybeans
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites — at concentrations above 10mg/kg or 10mg/litre
- Tree nuts — including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios, and macadamia nuts
How We Provide Allergen Information
Online Ordering (Click & Collect / Pre-Order)
- Allergen information is displayed on our online menu alongside each dish where available.
- Please review allergen details before placing your order.
- If allergen information is not displayed for a particular item, or if you require further detail, please contact us before ordering.
- Allergen information will also be available when you collect your order.
Dine-In (Order & Pay / Pay at Table)
- Allergen information is available on our digital menu.
- You may also ask any member of our team for allergen details at any time.
- Please inform your server of any allergies or dietary requirements when placing your order.
Cross-Contamination
Important: Our kitchen prepares food that contains all 14 major allergens. Despite our best efforts to prevent cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from any allergen.
If you have a severe allergy or are at risk of anaphylaxis, please consider this carefully before ordering. We strongly recommend that you speak with us directly so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.
"May Contain" Information
Where applicable, we use precautionary allergen labelling (e.g. "may contain traces of nuts") to indicate a risk of cross-contamination. This is provided in good faith based on our ingredient sourcing and kitchen procedures.
Changes to Our Menu
Recipes and suppliers may change from time to time. Allergen information is reviewed regularly, but please always check the latest information before ordering, especially if you have not visited us recently.
